Sustainable Building Operations

BOMA BESt Program

Alberta Infrastructure formally adopted the BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association) BESt Program formerly known as Go Green Program  as the standard for environmental operations in its facilities on March 17, 2006.   News Release: "Go Green" Standard Means Better Quality of Life in Provincial Buildings

Formal adoption was a result of recognizing the numerous benefits of operating buildings in a sustainable manner.

As of April 2010, Alberta Infrastructure has met its goal to have all large, public, government-owned buildings BOMA BESt certified. Eighty-six buildings have been certified under the program.

All buildings are certified at Level 1 except the following which have achieved higher scores on the BOMA BESt Questionnaire:

High River Provincial Building, Level 2 (70 - 79 %)
Claresholm Provincial Building, Level 2 (70 - 79)
Energy Resources Research Building, Level 2 (70 - 79%)

Devon Research Centre, Level 2 (70-79%)
McDougall Centre, Level 2 (70 - 79%))
